Get Down Like Jay Gatsby at the Annual Jazz Age Lawn Party

August 06, 2017

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to party hard in the New York of the 1920s? Well, wonder no more, as you now have the chance to join fellow flappers and sheiks (yep, that’s what hip, stylish dudes who loved to party hard were called back then) later this month for the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island. Located a mere 800 yards off the southern tip of Manhattan, Governors Island comprises 172 acres of pristine, pedestrian-only greenery, making it the ideal outdoor setting for summertime relaxation and recreation. The Jazz Age Lawn Party is one of our favorites of the many events hosted on the island. Revelers are encouraged to dress in period attire, sip from classic cocktails, and get down to the hottest tunes from the heyday of Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan. Don’t have anything to wear? Don’t worry. You’re welcome to dress as you like, or purchase a period costume from vintage merchants at the event. Festivities will run from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. on August 26 and 27. For detailed ticketing information, check out the Jazz Age Lawn Party website .

Location: Colonel’s Row on Governors Island
