A Summer of Shakespeare

A Summer of Shakespeare

May 06, 2019

William Shakespeare has been called the greatest writer of all time in the English language, and his plays and sonnets have been delighting audiences for over 400 years. Some of the most popular events in New York City are the Free Shakespeare in the Park performances in Central Park every summer. The venue, only about 15 minutes from the Broadway Plaza Hotel, is the perfect place to experience one of Bard’s tales. The summer season kicks off with Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare’s famous comedy that is full of intrigue, battles of wits, and, of course, true love. Much Ado About Nothing will be directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon and will run from May 21-June 23. The next play, Coriolanus, will be directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan and will run from July 16- August 11. Coriolanus is a tragedy of military success, political failure, and the causes of both. Whether you are able to experience both plays or just one, Free Shakespeare in the Park is something that you will not want to miss.
